Subcommittee Reports
Education and Outreach:
  • June distributed copies of the SAWC Fall 2005 newsletter and survey and reported
that 8,000 copies were set to be mailed out to homeowners in all 6 watershed towns.
  • Discussion of how to tabulate results and if they would be ready to report on in
January when SAWC meets with Selectmen.
  • Suggestion made to send press releases to newspapers and/or letter to editor to get
the word out about the survey and its importance, etc.
  • Letter has been drafted by Ken to Selectmen about meeting in January
  • Suggestion made to submit information about SAWC for watershed town Annual
Reports – most are due in January
Water Quality:
  • Bill reported on some preliminary data analysis. He made some bar graphs of
October 2004 Lake Sunapee data and plotted various parameters against each
other (total phosphorus, turbidity, pH, and conductivity).  The results showed that
with the exception of pH – which remains stable – all other parameters increase at
the same sites. This leads to the conclusion that the three parameters are closely
    related.
  • Bill also reported that one of his students is preparing a bathymetric map of Lake
Sunapee which will show various depths and basins in the lake
  • Question of what water quality sub-committee volunteers can do to assist Bill.
Land Use:
  • Steve L not present – group is still working on zoning matrix – some group
members brought information from their towns to share
  • Cynthia asked how septic setbacks were determined in other towns as Springfield
is currently working on this. Will discuss at SAWC general meeting.
DES Task List
June reported that the DES Task List and Conceptual Model are now complete and
approved by both SAWC and DES. She noted that there has been a shift in the
conceptual model to focus on phosphorus levels in order to have long term measurable
results.
NHRWA Update
June reported that the NHRWA has changed its name to Granite State Rural Water
Association. The organization did not initially get the SAWC letter of interest due to a
change of address, but Jen Palmiotto has now been contacted and SAWC should hear
back from them soon.
Meeting ended at 6:55pm
